Courts 'n Sports

Recreational Sports

Join in a YMCA recreational sport, which is available on a drop-in basis. No registration is required to participate in basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer and floor hockey. Participants organize themselves into teams. Substitutions are made throughout the game to ensure that everyone has a chance to play. Time is specially designated for adults and youth throughout the week. Please check with the branch for scheduled times and availability.

Open Gym Time

When the gym is not being used for scheduled programs or special events, it is available for members' use on a first come, first serve basis. Equipment is available at the Service Desk in St. Catharines and at the Membership Desk in Niagara Falls or Niagara Centre. Please check with the branch for scheduled times and availability.

Child members under the age of 13 may use open gym time when they are directly supervised by a parent or guardian.

Members are expected to be considerate of others and to share program space when required.

Courts 'n Sports

Available at the St. Catharines Walker Family and Niagara Falls YMCA Branch

Court Reservations

Adult members 16 years of age and older can reserve squash or racquetball courts up to two days in advance in person at either the St. Catharines or Niagara Falls Branch. Membership numbers are required when reserving or canceling courts. Members can book one court at a time, and can book their next court once their game is complete. The "ten minute late" rule applies, whereby a court can then be rebooked by someone else.

Youth aged 13-15 who have completed the Youth Fitness Centre Orientation may play on open courts when available. They are not permitted to book courts in advance. A child member under the age of 13 may use courts if playing with an adult member.

What to Wear on the Courts

For safety reasons, protective eye wear on the courts and non-marking running shoes are mandatory.

Equipment

For your safety, protective eye wear is mandatory. For the beginner who is trying out the sport, racquet and protective eye wear can be rented at the Membership or Service Desk.
